add note somewhere *strongly* advising against using the username-password git url format
Some students are using a format for git clone where they include their username and password in the url. We should provably advise against this, rather strongly. For one, it seems to be causing issues when it comes to cloning. Secondly, this is a huge security problem and a very bad habit, since your password is then part of your Bash history.
Furthermore, a student recommended on Avenue that they put their password in a configuration file so they don't have to enter it. I would caution against this as well for similar security reasons and would instead recommend ssh keys if they don't want to have to enter their password each time. On a shared server like Mills, I never use even ssh keys. I just enter my password each time for security reasons.
